POST YOUR RIDE

If you want to get out and about on the bike between our regular and organised rides but don’t want to be on the open road alone, post the time and location of your ride so others can join you.

For those who need to build the base endurance kilometres in preparation for the racing season or the Around the Bay in a Day and other such rides, it is necessary to ride between MUcyc rides.

Whether its the local chain gang on beach rd or just you and your trusty steed, feel free to invite other members to join you and make the ride more enjoyable. Please also feel free to discuss cycling related topics

Nino Borsari Social Ride* (Sat 14th June):

Location and start time:
Borsari Cycles 193 Lygon St, Carlton at 8.30 am
OR
Corner Kerferd Rd and Beaconsfield Pde, Port Melbourne at 9.00am

Destination:
Mordialloc (trip distance from Kerferd Rd to Mordialloc is approx 30km / 60km round trip).

Who should attend?
If you can average 26-30kmh on a 30km ride, you’ll have no problems keeping up. Basically we ride at a constant 30kmh so you can draft your way there even if you’re feeling a touch tired. A road bike is essential. If you ride with cleats and dress in lycra, you should come along. If you are a guy and have shaved legs, then we expect to see you.

Highlights of this week’s ride?
Your last chance to meet half man, half machine Rik De Schrijver.

Will there be rest breaks?
Usually, we stop at Mordy – have a chat and snack, then return. We do have a Sunday Girls/Intro Guys ride for those who are beginning or want to ride in a group; basically you will not be left by yourself or dropped on the Sunday ride.

Are there any restrooms?
There are bathroom facilities at the Black Rock roundabout and at Mordialloc.

What happens if I flat? Will you guys wait?
If you flat or have a mechanical or medical, we will indeed render assistance. We pride ourselves on riding as a team and the whole group will stop for you.

Hope to see you all there.

Hey kids, plan is weekend beach rd run to mordy, (or further by group consensus) on both sat and sun! We are starting at the same time on both days later on in the day to take full advantage of the nicer weather we’re expecting on the weekend, and so we can hopefully get some sun for a change on the return trip back to uni.

Time/Place: 9:30am (both sat and sun) meeting at Kerferd rd and Beaconsfield Pde.

Weather: Should be dry – predicted fine and 5 to 15C on sat, and even warmer on sun 10-14C.

Sun is planned to be a more relaxed social ride, bring some money as we’ll stop off for some coffee on the return leg as per usual!

The Street Retreat Charity Ride is a fund raising tour of Cambodia – on a bicycle. Participants will spend 14 days in Cambodia, beginning at the Angkor Temples, and finishing in Sihanoukville. Participating in the Ride will give people the opportunity to visit multiple development projects, and experience Cambodia in a new and unique way.

FCF only works with responsible tourism providers, and all proceeds from the Charity Ride will go towards Future Cambodia Fund’s grassroots development project at Phum Andong, the Happy Garden Centre. For more information about the ride, please email allie@thepariproject.com. For more information on FCF, please visit the website at http://www.futurecambodiafund.org.
