MUCyc aims to involve students and staff of the University of Melbourne in cycling, be it road, off road or simply commuting. Through regular group rides, social events, competitions and other activities MUCyc aims to inform members of the benefits of cycling and to add further value and enjoyment to members’ cycling
Mission Statement
The goals of the Melbourne University Cycling Club are;
-to encourage people to cycle on 3 levels: transportation, recreation
and competition
-to give value to our members through providing broad opportunities, resources and support
-to facilitate these aims through fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with sponsors and affiliates
-to establish MUcyc as a pre-eminent cycling club in Victoria
MUCyc is run by a dedicated group of volunteers from the University cycling community. The Club is a not for profit organisation.

What kind of riding do you do?
Almost everything. MUCyc organise road, MTB and some downhill riding.
I’m a racing cyclist. Why should I join MUCyc?
Because we are affilliated with Cycling Australia. Racing licences must be purchased through an affilliated club and our club membership fee is cheaper than any other club in Victoria.
I’m new to cycling, can I still join?
Yes! Of course you can join! We have many members just like you who partake in social rides.
What kind of racing does the club offer?
In 2008 MUcyc will be launching our racing team. This will involve subsidies on racing licences and teamwear along with team training sessions for a limited number of members only. Stay tuned for more details…
Do I need a Mtba or Cycling Australia Licence?
No you don’t need a licence to join our events.
Will I be covered by insurance?
You will have medical insurance that is not covered by Medicare.
I’m not a Melbourne Uni student, can I still join?
Yes you can. MUCyc accepts everyone, family, friends, non students, juniors and jedi.

What is the meaning of life?

Do you offer training to riders?
MUCyc will host weekday evening training rides at Kew Boulevard as well as outings to Mt. Dandenong and Kinglake for the climbers.
Does MUCyc teach cool stuff like wheelies and bunnyhops?
Yes we will teach you those things, as well as teaching you how to do them wearing lycra, which is doubly cool.
What else does MUCyc do?
We also have BBQs, Movie and Pubnights
Okay. So no superhero stuff by night?
No. Only on Fridays.
What organised events does MUCyc join?
Currently, we will be doing the Around the Bay ride. Also check out the Mad Ride listed on the Upcoming Events page.
I’ve heard that wearing Lycra shaves kilos off my body, is this true?
This is true to an extent. You will however receive weird and wonderful looks from strangers.
I’ve also heard that MUCyc committee members are naturally good looking?
